A robot built to cut steel is set to do just that.
Robots can cut steel for a factory that’s a mere kilometer away, thanks to the power of a computer.
The machine has already been used to cut the steel of a building, which is made of lightweight materials, such as plywood and wood.
But its capabilities go much further.
The robot can cut a steel frame, a concrete block, a glass container, and even a metal door.
The project’s team is already using the robot for a job that would be impossible with humans.
It can cut through a concrete wall to reach a doorway, cut through steel beams to reach an open space, and cut through concrete and glass to reach the factory floor.
The team says it has a few years of experience using robots to cut through material.
The robotic machine is called the “RoboClimber” and it can be programmed to cut both steel and concrete at once.
But it’s not a one-off job.
The team says the team is now working on a version that can cut both concrete and steel at once and then “determine a desired shape and size of the cutting area.”
The team said it had received $150,000 in funding from the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency to help with development.
The military is also funding the project.
